Natasha Belmont BA/LLB, BPsych (Hons), MClinPsych, GradDip FDR

Psychology

Natasha is an AHPRA accredited general psychologist, currently undergoing the Clinical Psychology Registrar Program to gain endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist, and a member of the APS. She has experience working in private practice, and in a large public health service, supporting clients managing acute and chronic physical health concerns along with mental health and wellbeing. She has experience working with a wide range of concerns, with adults, young people and children. She also has experience working with parents and families in conflict and/or post-separation both as a psychologist and in other roles. Her goal is always to work with the whole person rather than the specific presentation.

Natasha practices psychology with a trauma-informed, neuroaffirming, client-led and collaborative approach, drawing from several modalities and evidence-based practices. These include primarily:

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Emotion-focused Therapy

  • Motivational Interviewing

She also has completed training in:

  • Schema Therapy

  • Internal Family Systems

  • Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy.

She has a strong interest in working with the queer community (adults, young people, and children) and people from diverse backgrounds. She has published research about the wellbeing of transgender and gender diverse adults as well as transgender and gender diverse young people and their parents. She is a member of the Australian Professional Association for Trans Health (AusPATH).

FDR/Mediation

In addition to her psychology work, Natasha is a former lawyer who works closely with families as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner/Mediator, and as a Child Consultant to allow children a voice in post-separation disputes. She continues to work directly with clients, and in training/supervising other professionals in this field. She is accredited with or a member of:

  • Attorney-General’s Department as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner

  • Australian Mediation and Dispute Resolution Accreditation Standards (AMDRAS) as an accredited mediator

  • Resolution Institute (who manage FDR and Mediation complaints)

  • Victorian Association of Dispute Resolution

In addition to private practice in this field, Natasha became a member of Victoria Legal Aid’s Family Dispute Resolution Service’s Chairperson and Child Consultant panels in 2022.

Natasha is also able to facilitate mediation in other contexts, including workplaces and for families experiencing conflict outside of family law disputes, and is involved in training and coaching new mediators.
